Simple Thinking to Leapfrog in Your Life
About this event
About the Lecture
Does complex thinking actually lead to better outcomes?
We live in a world that equates complexity with intelligence. Faced with a difficult problem, our instinct is to add more: more information, more analysis, more process, until we arrive at a sophisticated solution. But more is not always better, and sometimes it gets in the way.
Prof. Mukesh Sud explores a different way of approaching the challenges we face in our personal and professional lives. Through stories and real-world examples, he shows how stepping back, asking the right questions and looking at a problem with fresh eyes can reveal surprisingly simple paths forward.
Simple thinking isn't about simplistic answers or ignoring complexity. It's about finding clarity amid chaos: identifying what truly matters, questioning assumptions, and focusing your energy on the problem that actually needs solving.
The session explores:
- Why we instinctively reach for complexity, and when it works against us
- How stepping back and asking the right questions can reveal simpler paths forward
- The difference between simple thinking and simplistic answers
- Practical ways to find clarity, question assumptions and focus on the problem that matters
